Guide to Resolution membership
Introduction from our Chair - Nigel Shepherd
Welcome to Resolution.
You are now a member of the leading organisation for family lawyers and other professionals who support couples and their families through separation. For more than 30 years we have been working on behalf of people like you, so I’m delighted you’ve decided to join us. Resolution was founded out of a desire to help separating couples resolve disputes in a non-confrontational way, putting the best interests of children first. This led to the development of our Code of Practice, which remains the cornerstone of our work, and of the work of our members.
You now have access to networking opportunities, sharing best practice among your peers, and strengthening relationships with other family practitioners, ultimately generating more referrals for you and your firm.
You also benefit from a wide range of products and services, available exclusively to Resolution members, which are outlined in more detail in this guide.
We are committed to raising the profile of our members through our regular media coverage – including during our national awareness-raising week. We also campaign for improvements to the family justice system, through a series of measures proposed in our Manifesto for Family Law and other initiatives.
I would encourage you to talk to your regional committee, to find out what’s happening in your area and get involved. Many of our members find this an excellent way to build their own professional networks.
There is also a range of specialist committees at a national level who are interested in hearing from members – old and new – who want a say in the work we’re doing.
As Chair, I’m committed to representing all of our members, so you’ll receive regular email updates about what we are doing on your behalf. I’m always keen to hear from members directly, so if there is anything you want me to be aware of, or that you want for Resolution, please do email me.
Thanks again for joining Resolution. On behalf of the National Committee and staff team, we’re delighted to have you on board.
